If you’re here because of Suits, could you make an exception and ping me so we can chat about how amazing the show is? Haha, fellow Fangirl here. :)

If you’re not, hmmm…

Might I suggest that you watch the show right away? Okay, I’ll try giving you a reason to!

From the powerful Intro “Greenback Boogie” to the emotional rollercoaster ride it takes us on, I have been head over heels in love with the characters since the start. So hooked that I’ve watched the show over four times now? My bad, I’ve lost count.

But, what has stuck with me throughout is their ability to navigate through any hindrance. While that’s a story for another day, let’s look at Suits through a different lens today. :)

1. “I’m not going to cower in some corner trying to convince them that I’m friendly. I’m gonna kick some ass and remind them that I’m fierce.”

— Jessica Pearson

I believe we can agree that Jessica Pearson is the embodiment of “I AM WOMAN” by Emmy Meli. Pardon my french, but she is the mommy you want. I would, no kidding.

Making it to the top of the corporate ladder is tough for a woman. Even more so, for people of color and in New York. And yet, she has managed to become the Managing Partner at the best law firm in the city.

How?

It was clear to Pearson that she needed to follow the rules if she wanted to be successful. She was in it for the long haul. She tamed herself down until she reached a point where she could get back and set her own rules. In command of her own life, a woman after my own heart!

It’s in Jessica’s nature to be poised and quiet with her moves. She is strategic, knows not to make business decisions based on emotions, and is always a step ahead of you.

She never calls herself a feminist. Instead, she shows you how to be one. She walks the talk! :)

2. “Do you know how hard it is for me to say no to you?”

— Donna Paulsen

To give you a little context, it is the part where Donna leaves Harvey to go work for Louis.

She left Harvey because he took her for granted. He assumed that Donna would always be by his side no matter what. Life, right?

Alas, she understood her worth. She could not let Harvey stand by the door like that. She held her ground.

And she taught us that sometimes we have to stand up for ourselves, validate our feelings and hold the other person accountable. She empowered us to see what the other side of the tunnel has to show.

So at times, we have to choose ourselves over the person we love, no matter how hard it gets, and let fate decide.

In the hindsight, it only made Harvey come to terms with his abandonment issues. Though our hearts ached to see Harvey break down, and live in denial that she may never return, it helped Harvey appreciate who Donna was to him after all!

A little distance doesn’t hurt. If anything, it helps us appreciate their presence better. And letting go can be liberating when holding on gets too heavy. :)

Final Words:

Well, this was my take on Suits. I can only say so much about the show, there is so much to learn.

Stay tuned, ’cause there’s more to come! :)
